Cooperation with such a renowned institution as The Gallery of Matica srpska is, certainly represents the first and essential step in order to be ready to give our contribution to the museum scene and Serbian national culture in general. Knowing that the head of the Gallery decided to direct the money to the reconstruction of the entrance part of the facade gives us the freedom to feel proud to be a part of the team that participates in an extensive reconstruction project of The Gallery of Matica srpska" said Marinos Vathis, the Chairman of the Executive Board of Vojvodjanska Banka NBG Group.
"We are honored that Vojvodjanska Banka entrusted its art collection to us in order to process it. For us, as a national cultural institution that cares about cultural heritage, it is important to have records and access to works of art in private collections and also to present them to the public through exhibitions and publications. The funds that we got from Vojvodjanska Banka for the reconstruction will be intended for the renovation of the entrance of the building and installation of the external elevator for people with disabilities in order to make the Gallery’s space available to everyone. I would like to thank Vojvodjanska Banka NBG Group on readiness for cooperation, which, I believe, in the years to come, is going to have nice results" said Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, director of The Gallery of Matica srpska.
"I took the opportunity to visit the implemented works on the reconstruction of The Gallery of Matica srpska, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. Last year, the renovation of the basement had been completed, so that this space was put into function, with a new depot for storing works of art and with completely equipped workshop for conservation. I also visited the actual work on the adaptation of depots on the third floor and works on the replacement of the roof cladding, which represent the first part of capital investments planned for this year. Only works on the reconstruction of the facade has remained, for which the Ministry of Culture and Information will provide funds in the upcoming months. With this, all works on the renovation of the Gallery of Matica srpska as one of the oldest and most active cultural institutions will be completed. I am glad that Vojvodjanska banka recognized the importance and value of The Gallery of Matica srpska and will, in cooperation with them, contribute to the successful and full completion of the reconstruction. At the same time, I'm glad that the experts of the Gallery will contribute to the procession and presention of a large and important collection of Serbian fine art owned by Vojvodjanska Banka in the future. Congratulations to The Gallery of Matica srpska and to Vojvodjanska Banka on signing this Agreement on cooperation. I believe that this is a good example how public-private partnership can be developed in the field of cultural heritage" said on this occasion the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, Ivan Tasovac.
