Candidate for EMYA 2016
The Gallery of Matica srpska is one of the nominated museums for the Best European Museum in 2016, to be awarded by The European Museum Forum (http://www.europeanmuseumforum.info/).
On Monday, 28th of September, 2015, The Gallery of Matica srpska was visited by Mr. Wim de Vos, PhD, the judge of the European Museum Forum, accompanied by Professor Mila Popović Živančević, PhD, the National Correspondent of The European Museum Forum. They were welcomed by the team of The Gallery of Matica srpska.
In the Ceremonial Salons of The Gallery of Matica srpska, Mr. de Vos was introduced with the concept, idea and the method of work of this museum by the director Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, MA, the deputy director Daniela Korolija Crkvenjakov, PhD, the Head of Department for Programs and Presentation, Snežana Mišić, MA and by the Head of the Sector for Protection of the Collection, Danilo Vuksanović, MA.
After discussion, Mr. de Vos went on a tour through the Gallery visiting the Entrance Hallway with the Museum Shop, the Big Hall, the exhibition rooms for temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection of the 18th, 19th and the 20th century Art. Apart from familiarizing with the collection and the exhibition activities, he had a chance to see the way of communication and work with young people and children. At the time of his visit, two workshops had been going on in the Gallery: within the framework of the visiting exhibition of The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska from Banja Luka called DATES 1 – Radenko Milak & Roman Uranjek, a creative workshop for the students of “Isidora Sekulić” Grammer School was held, while the children from “Maštolend” Kindergarten participated in the program Feel the Art. Experience Works of Art through Senses, which took place in the Children’s Room and in the exhibition space.
Mr. de Vos continued his introduction with the work and activities of The Gallery by visiting the official premises, the Atelier for Conservation and the depots for artworks. He also visited the basement which was under great reconstruction within the project of revitalization of the Gallery’s basement area.
Mr. de Vos ended his visit to The Gallery of Matica srpska by writing his impressions into the Book of Guests’ Reviews.
