MUSEUMS FOR 10 in the Gallery of Matica Srpska

This year, museums throughout Serbia are organizing the festival Museums for 10 for the seventh time, opening their doors to visitors for free and conducting special programs intended for various age groups and interests of their audience. Every year, the largest national museum initiative, coordinated by the National Committee of ICOM Serbia under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Serbia, attracts many visitors.

This year festival’s theme Future of Museums: Recover and Recreate is dedicated to rethinking the relationship between museums and the communities they serve, encouraging experimentation with new and hybrid models of cultural creation, highlighting the creative potential of culture and the role of museums in building a sustainable future.

Visitors to the Gallery of Matica Srpska, in addition to the Permanent Exhibition of Serbian Art of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and the exhibition Large-Scale Painting – Testimonies of the Epochs, will have the opportunity to see the new exhibition Identity(ies). Representations of women in Serbian painting (1918–1941). Also, they will be able to enjoy daily programs created in accordance with the theme of the event: book promotions, lectures, guided tours, plays, family adventures for young and adults, as well as creative workshops for children. As part of the festival, the Gallery will mark the European Museum Night with a diverse program whose backbone consists of communication, interaction, innovation and accessibility of content, with the idea of ​​pointing out the necessity of achieving a wealth of interpretation, experience and approach to art, before which we are all equal.
