Take a break – feel the art

EXIT festival in Novi Sad is known for fun, new acquaintances, large number of visits from the region, Europe and the world, as well as a great time. After a fantastic night at the Petrovaradin Fortress, visit the Gallery of Matica srpska and meet the character of Dragiša Brašovan, the most famous architect in Serbia! Through the guided tour in English, you will learn more about the character and work of the architect Dragiša Brašovan, his private life, as well as about three major projects realized in Novi Sad: Banovina Palace, the building of the Chamber of Commerce and the Main Post Office.

Guided tours through this attractive new exhibition in English are organized during the EXIT festival from Thursday, the 6th of July to Sunday, the 9th of July in two terms: 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The ticket for a guided tour costs 250 RSD.

During the EXIT festival the Gallery of Matica srpska prepared a special program Take a break, feel the Art in the Gallery of Matica srpska to promote art to foreign tourists and to familiarize them with a cultural heritage kept in the Gallery of Matica srpska. In addition to a great variety of programs that the festival offers, this year, visitors will have a chance to hear a story about the history of art and enjoy the pleasant ambience of the Gallery. Exhibition Gift-Collection of Dragiša Brašovan presents over 100 artworks – paintings, sculptures, drawings, stylish furniture, works of applied art and documentary material that were donated to the Gallery by the heirs of this famous Serbian architect. The exhibition offers visitors a completely different view of Brašovan as a husband, stepfather, esthete, art lover and friend. All these artworks, which were part of the interior of the house in Strahinjića bana street in Belgrade, speak in a unique way about the taste and determination of the famous architect, as well as about his family life. His home became part of the space of the Gallery, its salons and corridors and therefore an inseparable part of the identity of the museum.
