Growing Up With Art in the Gallery of Matica srpska
Celebration of the 1st of June
Celebrating the first of June on Gallery Square together with our youngest audience – children and their parents, educators, teachers and friends, for the fourth year in a row we created a new tradition, which indicates the importance of growing up with art, and Gallery Square as important cultural point of the city. Together with our visitors, on that day we mark the anniversary of the opening of the Gallery of Matica Srpska for the public in today’s building on the Gallery Square. In this way, we are constantly reminded that only together visitors and a diverse program, a museum can live its true life.
This year, for the celebration of June 1, we have prepared a unique afternoon pleasure with culture and art, where visitors will enjoy in the exhibition of children’s works My City, Opera for children The Magic Flute, creative programs, as well as a family program Adventure for Young and Adults.

Inspired by artistic stories about the rich cultural heritage of the City of Novi Sad, they created their “works of art” with educators and art pedagogues, which summarized the impressions and acquired knowledge, observations and feelings that they brought with them. With the exhibition of children’s works, we want to look into their world and point out the importance of children’s creativity.

At this unique event, theater artists, who sing, talk, play, conduct and play, will present a fairy tale about a prince who left his kingdom in search of love.
