The Day of the Gallery of Matica srpska
This year’s Day of the Gallery of Matica srpska and celebration of 174 years of existence will be marked with ceremonial session and a review of the exhibition Lasting Values. The Artwork Collection of DDOR.
The ceremonial session will be opened by Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, PhD, director of the Gallery of Matica srpska, with a speech on The year preceding the jubilee: gratitude to the past directors. Mentioning the first director Franjo Malin, and latter the artists Milenko Šerban and Milivoj Nikolajević, Radivoje M. Kovačević, Milan Solarov, Olga Mikić, Leposava Šelmić and Branka Kulić, a sermon on the predecessors will highlight the most significant events in the history of this institution, which over time has adapted and changed into one of the leading museum institutions.
The current exhibition Lasting Values. The Artwork Collection of DDOR, created as a result of many years of cooperation between the Gallery of Matica srpska and DDOR insurance on various projects of presentation and preservation of cultural heritage, will be presented by Danilo Vuksanović, programme director of the Gallery.
Finally, the director of the Gallery will award the members of the Friend’s Club of the Gallery of Matica srpska who contributed to the collection, preservation and presentation of the Serbian artistic heritage during the previous year.
